Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing a fire safety solution can be daunting and unnecessarily complex. Our customer service representatives are happy to help you with your questions so that you can make an informed decision and also be able to share the knowledge with your family and colleagues in turn.

  • Are all fire extinguishers the same?
Traditional fire extinguishers typically only are meant for one or two classes of fire. Rarely can they take on all classes of fire. Using the wrong traditional fire extinguisher with a mismatched type of fire may result in creating an even larger, more violent fire (eg such as using a water fire extinguisher to fight a grease fire) Not only is the Fire Terminator solution suitable for all types of fire, but it also works faster than most traditional fire extinguishers even when they are used for the fire classes they are designed for. With the Fire Terminator solution, there is no need to worry about what class of fire you are encountering, Fire Terminator works for all classes of fire.

  • Where are Fire Terminator products manufactured?
Fire Terminator products are proudly made in Singapore, home of our inventor and partner, Dr Judah Jay. Our production facilities are located in the Ubi Industrial area, in the eastern part of Singapore.
  • Is the can suitable for young kids or elderly to use?
Yes, if they are strong enough to use the spray can physically, it is safe for them to use it. We recommend strongly that you train all members of your family/residence to make safety their first concern, as well as when and where they should evacuate and call for help.
  • Can the spray can be used multiple times?
Yes, once the can is used or opened for testing, you can still use the spray can at a later period. Although for safety reasons, we do recommend you keep full spray cans ready as you never know how big a fire you may encounter.
  • What is the spraying distance of Fire Terminator FT JN1010 Hydrodynamic Spray?
The spray can cover at a maximum distance of 7 metres. This means that you do not need to get too close to the fire to use the product.
  • What happens if my spray can is damaged?
While this shouldn’t pose an issue, it is better to be safe than sorry, we recommend replacing any spray cans that have been damaged just to be extra safe.
  • What is the shelf life of the Fire Terminator Spray?
    A. Our solution remains viable for 10 Years without any problems. The expiry date can be found on the can itself.
  • How can the cans be disposed of?
    A. Whether the cans are empty or partially full, or even full, they can be disposed with normal methods. As there are no toxic chemicals in the can, the contents are biodegradable and dissolve in water. With the exception of the plastic cap and nozzle, the metal can itself can be recycled.
  • Can I test the Fire Terminator spray?
You may test it if you like but it is recommended that you always have a full can of spray, just in case you encounter a larger fire.
  • Where should I spray at a fire?
Imagine you are spray painting the surface, try to spray directly at the fire and at wherever the fires are. Once an area has been sprayed, the no-burn back action will prevent fire from re-igniting the area while the Fire Terminator solution is present.
  • Does Fire Terminator Hydrodynamic Spray need any form of servicing or maintenance?
No, our spray does not require any servicing or maintenance, but we recommend to replace it once the 10 year expiry date has been reached.
  • What is the spraying duration of the can?
Depending on how hard the spray is pressed, it is estimated to spray for 15 seconds at maximum pressure.
  • Can I keep the spray in my car?
Yes, in fact the spray was designed to be used in most storage conditions including in a car. The spray can be safely stored in temperatures of -16 to +65 degrees Celsius.
  • Is the solution in the spray can safe to touch?
The solution in the can is organic and non-toxic but should only be used as directed. We recommend seeking medical attention should any contact result in any noticeable skin irritation or allergic reactions. Similarly users should avoid contact with their eyes or ingesting the solution.
  • Will the spray can explode?
We have tested the spray can by putting a blowtorch to the side of the can. The can splits open without fragmenting, nor does it explode.
  • What if my spray can has frozen?
If the spray is left outside in extreme cold and the solution has frozen, simply bring it in to let it thaw. Once thawed the solution is still viable and good for use.
  • If I am using an induction hub instead of a gas stove, would I still need an extinguisher in the kitchen?
Induction cookers and hubs can still cause fires by heating up cooking oil for 10-12 minutes as the oil automatically ignites and becomes a dangerous Class F fire.
  • Can Fire Terminator be used in the kitchen?
Yes, this can be used to put out all incipient fires (early stage fires) no matter what the class of fire it is, including grease/cooking oil fires.
  • Does the spray can use any aerosol chemicals?
The spray can uses compressed air. No chemicals are used.
  • Can Fire Terminator be used on a fire caused by a short circuit?
Yes, our Fire Terminator solution can put out a fire with an electrical origin safely. We do recommend that where possible to always shut down the electrical source of the fire first for general safety.
  • What should I do if I have a grease fire?
Do not use water to put out a grease fire. The water will cause an explosion that will not only spread the fire wider and may also hurt people present in the process. Use our spray to put out grease fires immediately.
  • How do I clean up the kitchen after I have used Fire Terminator to put out the fire?
The Fire Terminator solution is water soluble, simply rinse/wipe the surfaces with water and flush it away. Since Fire Terminator is non-toxic and bio-degradable, you will not need special disposal methods.
  • Where do you recommend placing the cans at home?
The Singapore Standards Code of Practice 578.3.2.1 recommends that fire extinguishers should be within 15m reach. While this is not specifically about homes, it is still a good guide to consider for placements. We recommend placing them in these possible locations: a) near the entrance/door (so that someone entering the home has quick access to the fire extinguisher upon entering); b) at the kitchen entrance, preferably not next to the cooking stove so that it is not too near a potential fire; c) in the garage, where cars and vehicles are parked; d) in or near a room (such as a storeroom) where paint, and other chemicals may be kept; e) in a room where there are many electrical items being powered such as a music room, games room and entertainment room; f) in your bedroom so you may be able to respond to potential situations in the rest of the home.
  • How many cans of Fire Terminator should we have for an average home size?
For an average apartment home, we recommend to standby at least 3 cans.
  • Where should the Fire Terminator spray cans be placed in a workplace?
We recommend having the Fire Terminator spray cans as a convenient first level response to incipient fires that complement the traditional regulation fire extinguishers that are required for commercial buildings. The sprays are not meant as a replacement of these traditional larger fire extinguishers required by your local fire safety code but rather as an additional supplement to that. Our Fire Terminator sprays are very useful where traditional fire extinguishers may be too complex, heavy or confusing to some untrained staffers or visitors at your workplace. As no training is needed for our sprays and conceptually it is easy to understand, sprays can be a very effective first tool in combating fire when it starts. Our Fire Terminator sprays can also be a useful tool for personal safety in the event of escaping a larger fire.
  • Can Fire Terminator put out a lithium battery fire?
The Fire Terminator solution can put out a lithium battery fire. Depending on the size of the battery (mobile phone battery, portable phone battery, electric scooter battery), you may need more than one spray for a larger battery. Beware that larger lithium battery fires can be very powerful so if the fire is larger, it is better to seek safety than to stay close to a large lithium battery fire.
  • I have other questions not covered in the FAQ above, may I contact you with my question?
